University of California (UC)

University of California is consistently rated among the top institutions in the world. While the Economics Department at Berkeley is consistently ranked about 5th position in the US, the Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE) Department is considered to be the best one in the US and the world.

Researchers from the whole system of UC may participate in the project. University of California includes and represents the following subdivisions: Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz.

Berkeley has the highest number of visiting international scholars among all US universities. This high commitment to international cooperation is in particular true about the ARE Department, which includes into its visitor program every year both well-established researchers and most promising Ph.D. students. Since the Berkeley’s ARE Department has the best placement history of any agricultural and resource economics department in the world, its graduates work in most of the top agricultural and resource economics departments around the world. All this led to unique network of international collaboration and co-authorship.
