University of Cape Town (UCT)

University of Cape Town is consistently the highest ranking African university according to any major ranking. Its rank is 113st according to the Times World University Rankings in 2012. It is the best African university in economics. ECOCEP will involve the best African researchers from Environmental Economics Policy Research Unit at the School of Economics and from the Energy Research Centre at the UCT.

UCT serves as an Africa gateway into high-quality international research. The Environmental Economics Policy Research Unit is one of centres of Environment for Development initiative. This initiative is a capacity building program in environmental economics initiated and managed by the Environmental Economics Unit, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. It is financially supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and supported by research capacity of Resources for Future (RFF) in Washington D.C.
